eThekwini accused of punishing ratepayers to compensate for city’s failures

DURBAN – The Democratic Alliance has rejected eThekwini metro’s proposed electricity levy intended for infrastructure improvements.
This decision comes after the municipality announced the additional charge as part of its electricity reform strategy.

This levy, approved by the council, is an attempt to unlock grant funding from the National Treasury.
